Centers Acquired from International BioResources, LLC now Part of Talecris Plasma Resources
November 20, 2006 – Talecris Plasma Resources, a wholly owned subsidiary of Talecris Biotherapeutics, Inc., has finalized the acquisition of 58 plasma collection centers from International BioResources, LLC (IBR). Financial terms of the acquisition, which the two companies agreed to on November 1, 2006, were not disclosed. Of the 58 purchased centers located throughout the United States, 21 are licensed, 12 are operating and awaiting FDA approval for licensure, and 25 are under various stages of development. This acquisition helps Talecris secure its own supply of human plasma – a key manufacturing source material for biotherapeutic products.
The workforce of the 58 plasma centers have been offered positions at Talecris Plasma Resources, bringing an additional 1000 talented and dedicated employees to the global Talecris team. With the acquisition complete, Talecris will fully integrate the new employees into the Talecris organization, continuing to focus on quality, safety, compliance and overall product excellence, from the arms of the plasma donors to the arms of the patients.
